A Very nice and early 1900’s Drop Arm / Paddle Arm Settee by Harden. The original red paper label is attached ( by one tack ) on the back inside rail of the settee.
The drop cushion is not a upholstered, but is ready for you to any cloth or leather to complete this contemporary of Gustav Stickley and L & JG Stickely.
The Settee measures approx. 55” wide x 23” deep x 28” high (to the arm) x 41” high back.
The drop in spring seat is covered in a heavy cloth and the springs have been tied. The Finish has been cleaned, as you can see from a side view, the settee was darker.
There will be more Arts and Crafts items coming in from this estate as well as the matching Harden Rocker.

A very nice and in remarkable condition Apothecary Hanging Show Globe.
These hanging show globes have also been called Apothecary Globe chandeliers or simply Show Globes. Either way, they are an amazing piece of Apothecary history as well as amazing decorative pieces. Originally the globes would have been filled with colored liquid, mostly Red and Blue the colors that are associated with the Apothecary.
This piece is the older style, the more common are the Art Deco style hanging globes. You can visit the Warehouse section to see one for sale:
The total length of this piece is approx. 35” long. The glass globe is in perfect condition, no cracks but at the mouth of the globe there are a few lip chips. The metal has been painted silver, but the metal is not rusted or damaged.

An original Framed WW I Lithograph Poster by The Sackett and Willehms Corporaton N.Y. Made for the United War Work Campaign, this poster is one of the Iconic images produced during WWI. The image of the Salvation Army Women with the Dough Boy eating a doughnut is wonderful image. The title is Oh, Boy that’s the Girl The Salvation Army Lassie keep her on the job Nov. 11th-18th 1918.
The image is framed is approx. 41” x 31” and the frame is metal with archival glass.
The condition of the poster is very good, but there are a few areas where the paper has ripped. As you can see from the photos, the largest area is at the bottom of the poster. The color is still strong and vibrant and is in remarkable condition for the age and the fact that these poster were used and not meant to be around coming up on a hundred years. Wow, in eight years, this poster will be 100 years old!!!

Here is another group the estate has decided to put up for sale. These and another group that will post next will be the last pieces available from this estate collection of Grace Turnbull. These two groups are indicative of her work and represent her social and political ideals coupled with her strong Art Deco Style.
In this group of two plaster are molds for making the positives. The round one is for the Maryland Conservation Association and reads “as man sows so shall he reap”. Here the the main focus is the sower motif which gives the main feeling for land conservation and at the same time indicative of Grace Turnbull’s style of social political views. The diameter of the round one is approx. 12”.
The square one has the mold square that is used in making the positive. This mold is one of the most striking and has a strong political message, a bit dark but still very strong piece by Grace Turnbull. This piece is also for Maryland Conservation Association but is a much darker subject. The thin young girl and the depraved drunk man laying on the street with the industrial building polluting the air and land. The bottom reads ” Check Human Erosion” and the center reads ” Conservation for Food not Drink”. A strong message for a Conservation Association, but on par for Grace Turnbull’s personal opinion on drinking and almost anit-industrial attitude.
Both molds are in very good condition with minor edge chipping. This mold is approx. 15” x 15”.

Several Months Back I wrote an article for Sturgis Antiques announcing a collection of Grace Turnbull items I had coming in. The first group of items I had were 3 plaster cast of large Medals used in 1950’s Jury Show that Grace Turnbull entered. The estate bought them and other pieces from the estate when it came up for sale a few years ago.
Here is another group the estate has decided to put up for sale. These and another group that will post next will be the last pieces available from this estate collection of Grace Turnbull. These two groups are indicative of her work and represent her social and political ideals coupled with her strong Art Deco Style.
This group of three 12 1/2” diam plaques are for 3 competitions Grace Turnbull entered. All three look to be large mock up of presentation medals.The right one is for Henry Hering Medal which is an organization for “The Henry Hering Medal - Art and Architecture Award is presented for outstanding collaboration among architects, owners and sculptors in the distinguished use of sculpture in an architectural project.”
The next one is for ” fine correlation of Sculpture and Architecture”, which looks to be the backside of a medal since it has the “To” at the top.
The left plaster is also a possible backside of a medal, with the words ” Awarded by The National Sculpture Society”.

Paul Bruhwiler’s Art is a creative mixture of Europe Avant Garde Graphic Design of the early 20th century and the Post Modernist and Mid Century Deconstructivist approach. There is no wonder why he choose the medium of poster design to show off his talents and this piece is no exception.
Here is an early and wonderful example, the blend of the aggressive Bauhaus angular design mixed with the imagery and cold stark feel of Raymond Chandler’s novels.
The poster is for the 1979 Filmpodium Zurich. The information on the lower left side reads: “Plakatgestltung c. 79 Paul Bruhwiler 8700 kusnacht”. The poster is in very good condition., but the Plexiglass is cracked on the left side of the frame and there is some wrinkle to the poster.
Size framed is approx. 36” x 51”

Large label on inside when you side open the top to fully extend the table from Console to Dinning Table.
Inside is dark felt lined.
Minor spots to original Rosewood and legs are teak and in near Fine condition.
The top has small “U” clips to hold table top closed.

Bicycle-club de Geneve, Bicycle Club of Geneve dated 1897 2nd Place award (called Dilome in French) with Original Metal award at the base.
The Image is a printed on paper and mounted to cardboard, but the Metal is inserted into the paper and is stamped, A. Lavée & A. Desaide Edit. The image is approx. 15” x 20” and is very fine condition with minor bumps to the corners and small thumb tack marks on each corner and the metal has a very small dark area on the top left of the metal. Please see the photos.
The print is signed by the President of the club and also by president of the Jury. The award is presented to Mr. Charletty for 2nd Place of a Bicycle race in Geneve on 25th of July 1897. The bottom of the award also has the distance, temperature of the race day.
This is a wonderful piece for a bicycle collector.

From the Same collection as the Squash Blossom, here is an 1800’s Cuff Bracelet with 7 turquoise stones.
The estate has this piece as marked 1810 with a n old price. They said they had this piece up for sale at store in the 1970’s. That is whey there is a sticker price.
I believe this bracelet is an mid to later 1800’s Coin Silver. The underside is rough which is a good indication of use of Coin. The piece is unsigned, but the due to age of the piece most are unsigned. As I stated in the other posting, the estate got a large collection from a family member who worked for the government in the 1930’s-1940’s in the South West.
The bracelet is approx: the inside measurements are 1 1/4” high x 2 1/2” wide.
This is an early and very nice Navajo Bracelet Cuff that has been in a private collection for 50 or more years.

Late 1800’s Silver and Bisbee Turquoise Native American Squash Blossom Necklace. The squash blossom is approx. 2 3/4” wide and each side’s length is approx. 15” long.
I was told by the estate that Turquoise is from the Bisbee Mine.
The piece is unsigned and not stamped. A very early piece that is coming from an estate that has it in their possession for approx. 50 or more years.

Oscar Cesare is considered one of the top illustrator of the 20th century and even displayed some of his work at the legendary 1913 Armory Show in New York City.
He was a major cartoonist and illustrator for the New York Sun as well as numerous other high profile magazines and news papers of the 20th century.
Oscar Cesare was an opponent of America’s involvement in WW I and used his career to promote his ideals.
Here is a piece that is not so much as opposing our involvement in the war but showing the strong hand and conquering of the Austrian/ German Army of Montenegro and Serbia. By 1916 the Allies could not stop the advancement of the Austrian/ German Army. Shown here as the Allies hand trying to reach the struggling and crushed Montenegro and Serbian Nation.

A rare and unique 19th Century Passenger ship Folding Sink. The piece is almost 100% original, with porcelain bowl and faucet, silvered mirror, galvanized back and brass vent horn. The piece is approx. 73” high x 27” wide x 16” deep; these measurements are with the folding sink down.
The wood appears to have been refinished and the mirror’s silver has chipped at the bottom of the mirror. Please see the photograph details. The porcelain bowl has a surface crack and the bottom door has warp. The door closes but does not close flush.

Grace Turnbull was one of the top Artist to come out of Maryland Instituted of Art and was considered ” a member of the first generation of women artists to achieve recognition in the art field”. Her work went from the the 20’s and continued to the 50’s doing more political minded items. Here she designed and cast three plaster medallions, all three mounted onto board and labeled on the back.

The style and designs of the early 1900’s have stood over the years as elegance and craftsmanship. With the Art Nouveau and Art Deco movements, designing and craftsmanship was at it’s height. Here is a wonderful example of the art and style of those two periods an Art Deco era but Art Nouveau style small table lamp.
The flowers and designs are hand painted Enamel over a thick frosted glass.
Sad to say the original shade is not around but this will leave you open to create a new look for this fantastic small table lamp. The Lamp is approx. 6 1/2” diam. at the base and is approx 16” to the top finial.
The lamp wiring works fine and the condition is fine, but does have a small chip on the underside of the lamp, please see the photos.

Victorian Mourning Jewelery is one of the more odd customs that have made it to dawn of modern times. The use of hair as a material to be used in Jewelry, memorial wreaths, and other keep sakes is always seen as odd to most people now. But once you think about it, the mourning art is a way to keep your loved ones with you.
Here is a great example and one that will be an addition to a collection.
A late 1800’s Victorian era Mourning Watch Chain or small necklace made out of braided hair.
The piece is 12” long, from what looks like a low karat gold ends, possible 10k. I have not seen a stop on the gold colored ends.
The hair is braided in a box braid, but through the years the braid has worn thin in some areas. I have photographed these areas to show that the chain in not broken but has worn thin.

An Alexander Calder Style Wall hanging, approx. 42.5” x 27.5” and or a small area rug. Most likely by the Rya Rug Company, this almost 1” thick shag and very closely modeled after the art of Alexander Calder.
The background is white, with a light blue circle and two other circles with variations of red color. The main large design is a dark blue and slightly resembles a fish.
I have photographed the reverse side to see the design without the shag.
The condition is very good , but the rug might need a mild cleaning due to the age, this will brighten the colors. The rug has hung on the wall for approx. 35 + years and comes from a smoke free house!

The Mies Van Der Rohe Barcelona Chair is one of the most iconic images of Modern Design The cushions are marked Made in Argentina and are made of supple leather. Lights scuffs and wear consistent with the age. The frame is stamped marked on the front left, “industria argentina “. The frame measures 29” high x 33 1/4” deep x 29 1/2” wide. Please note that one bolt is missing from the back side. This does not affect the strength or stability of the chair.
The leather straps are strong and supportive making this chair ready to go into your house.

A Wonderful Mid Century L- Shaped Teak Bar complete with Hanging Storage Box with Sliding Glass door and Bar with Sliding Glass doors and White Formica Top. The Bar and sidewall stands sits on caster which allows you to move this bar into any area of your house. This complete Bar set up is ready to go into any mid century house.
Made by Turnidge Furniture from London, this Teak bar is one of the most impressive laid out bars that I have seen. A great piece and ready to go. The sidewall is approx. 24” wide x 65 3/4” high x 1 1/2” thick. The bar is approx. 39” high x 14 1/2” deep x 56” from end to end. The L-shaped bar has each measuring 28” long x 28” long. This piece stands as well as any other high end Danish design furniture of the time.
Please note the dog is not for sale, just used to show the scale and besides he is cute in the picture.

A very rich full color Medical Pulldown of the mail Urogenital System illustrated by PM Lariviere dated 1949. The lithograph is published by the Denoyer-Geppert Co out of Chicago Il and is paper mounted on canvas. The piece is in almost near Mint shape, pulls up and down, strong colors, no tears or scuffs on the image but very slight bends at the edge.
The bold colors are still rich and vibrant and when fully extended makes a show stopping display in any house. The catalog number from the company is KL 10 and the piece is approx. 76” long x 43” wide.

An elaborate set and or pair of Victorian Mourning Art. The Mourning art Wreathes are made out of cut and dyed feathers and colored wool made into flowers. Both large shadow box frames are approx. 2 feet x 2 feet and about 5” deep. One mourning wreath is made of colored wool and has a portrait of a young woman in the center. The other wreath has a beautiful arrangement of cut and dyed feathers in an elaborate formation. Both pieces came to me from the same estate and are being sold as a set.
