Louis Le Breton was a famous and well know French nautical artist who died in the in the late 1860’s. This inlaid frame has a four nautical stars in the corners with a fine detail trim around the the frame. The colored lithograph is signed in the print “Breton” lower right. The subject looks to be a harbor scene of merchant boats in the background and fishing boats pulling up their fishing nets in the foreground. A very nice and elaborate piece of art.
The Mirror has started to show some wear to the silvering, but this is very minor. On the lower left corner some inlay has been lost, but looks to have been repaired at some point. The over all condition of the frame and art is fantastic.
The back looks to all original with no alterations or manipulations. The mirror’s wood backing looks to have the animal skin glue still attached and the wood board looks unaltered. The print’s wood backing has the original square nails and also looks to be unaltered.
