Geomancy is "translates literally to "earth divination," and the term is used for methods of divination that interpret geographic features, markings on the ground, or the patterns formed by soil, rocks, or sand." The practice "involved direct contact with earth energies, astronomical alignments, sacred geometry, spirit realms, sacred mountains and holy wells etc. as ways of understanding, living in and manipulating the environment. For them geomantic knowledge was employed as an art and science for better living, dying and worship."
Practiced in African and Europe, it was used up till the Renaissance till it was band as part of the Black Arts.
