1870 Handcolored Etching Robert E. Lee Framed Sold by AUTHORITY OF THE LEE MEMORIAL
1870 hand colored engraving of Robert E. Lee, over an inscription reading "SOLD BY AUTHORITY OF THE LEE MEMORIAL ASSOCIATION FOR THE ERECTION OF A MONUMENT AT THE TOMBE OF GENL. R.E. LEE AT THE WASHINGTON & LEE UNIVERSITY, LEXINGTON, VIRGINIA".
Engraved by A. B. Walter, after a photo from life.
The lower margins with facsimile signatures of Lee; Gen. W. Pendleton, Chairman; and Chas. A. Davidson, Secretary.
The bottom reads "W. W. Bostwick & co. 177 & 179 w. 4th Street Cincinnati, Oh. General Life Agents for Lee Memorial Association.
The etching is hand colored and with slight soiling to the top right area, a small amount of debris. The painted glass matt is in good condition.
I have not taken this piece out of the frame.
