1929 Image of Sammy Stewart and Jazz Orchestra From Frank Driggs Collection
Awhile ago I worked on a music archive from John Brown, not the aboliionist but a jazz drummer and later music promoter in the Baltimore Md area. His drumming was during the 1950's and up but in the 1970's he turned his attention to jazz show concert promotion.
His collection of Blues and Jazz books was extensive and his photos, many he acquired from the Legendary American record producer for Columbia records and a jazz historian and author.
All the images are copies from Frank Driggs and many are labeled and or stamped with Frank Driggs.
This amazing jazz orchestra photo is stated Sammy Stewart, 1929 with the list of musicians on the back. The Photo is dry mounted on board and the xerox is from Frank Driggs.
Mislabeled on the front Louis Armstrong + Orchestra, Armstrong did not play with Sammy Stewart.
Size: 8 x 10 1/8 inches
10 1/2 x 14 1/8 inches board
Condition: fine, the photo has been dry mounted on board. The board does have some foxing the right side and right side bottom.
