Bronze Bud Vase of Melusine French Mythological Mermaid Early 1900s
A very nice with strong detail bud vase with mermaid. I believe this mermaid to be a portrayal of Melusine.
Melusine was a French Mythological Mermaid. She is usually depicted as a woman who is a serpent or fish from the waist down (much like a mermaid). She is also sometimes illustrated with wings, two tails or both.
In this bronze bud vase, you can see the serpents at the base on the backside of the vase.
The vase is unmarked, but I have not taken the bottom off. The screws do not appear to have been removed in a long time.
Condition: Patina is in very good condition with very minimal shelf wear on the bottom
Size: 9" tall
