No identifying names of the sitter or the photographer.
A carte de Viste is a albumen photo mounted onto a stiff board. Some would have names of the photographer on the back and many carte de vista, also referred to as CDV were done of famous people and were used as a type of calling card for the rich and well to do.
In this CDV, the old man is a well established man, a scientist, who holds his leather book of importance and is seated next to his occupational apparatus, a microscope. Looking closely at the microscope, it is not a typical one. I can not make out the box of material in front of the microscope but it was important enough that it was photographed with him
