Circa 1940s Original Photo Of African American Baseball Player Attributed to Frank Irvin "Plug" Boyd Late Negro League Photograph
Original Photograph of African American Baseball Player
Circa mid 40s and attributed to Frank Irvin "Plug" Boyd
The Back is labeled with my translation to "Plug Boyd, Braves P. and O.F."
Forums have helped to identify this as Frank Irvin "Plug" Boyd.
The pen writing is in a different hand and was a reply from a Newspaper, saying it will need a new photo that the paper can use.
The photo has Boyd in the jacket and matching hat, the jacket has a "C". A news article from 1951 has Plug Boyd playing for the Clippers, a Virginia Negro League team.
My estimate and gage of the photo is 1940's to 1950 and if it is is earlier, around WWII, this would make the the photograph around the end of Negro League.
