The book is a modern take on folklore and folktales as heard and observed in modern times. The preface is based on folk traditions and how they are passed down through time. Traditional folk tales and lore were based on historical documents but Abrahams uses the modern African Americans, specifilcly in Philadelphia to show how traditionals and tales have been passed down and adapted over time.
Written at the time of America’s obsession and revival, the 2nd revival of folk music and tales in America Culture in the 60’s. The book documents conversations, tales, jokes and humor and obscenities and how they were drawn from old passed culture.
Condition: The Dust Jacket has chipping and tears and damage but intact. The Binding is fine with some signs of use and wear. The book has a slight twist but is very minor. No marks inside with no writing or notiable damage. Please see the images provided for more details
