Early Russian Constructivist Hammer and Sickle Woodblock Print Black and Red Woodcut c. 1920's
Russian Constructivist, circa 1920's Block Print of Hammer and Sickle.
This Black and Red soviet block print is in the style and aesthetic of artists like el Lissitzky, Tatlin. Their art defined what a lot of the 20th c. art is built upon and to this day their art is considered the foundation of modernist design and construction.
This 3 inch x 3 inch woodcut appears to have been from a book, the right edge is chipped. The image is printed on a heavy print paper, not a typical book paper.
Size: 3 x 3"
Condition: some soiling to the paper. The image is fine but this piece might need a cleaning. Please see the images for details.
