Eva Hesse A Retrospective Of The Drawings
An Exhibition catalogue for the retrospective show at Oberlin College, April 20 1982- May 30th 1982
Ellen H. Johnson of Oberlin does the an amazing overview of Eva Hesse and gives a detailed examples, some in color and some images in Black and White, of her art. Hesse was one of the earliest artist of the an area referred to as Postminimalism. Hesse was best known for sculpture but drawings give an insight and details of works that would move from 2D to sculpture. Each drawing is a vignette or a focus on aspects of pieces that would be enlarged and "come to life". I do feel that Minimalism has a feel of life and is not the starkness that many people associate with minimalism.
