Folk Art Piece of Victorian Wonderment and Fantasy Oil Painting Landscape with Decoupaged Children Playing Circa 1900 Harry Darger Style
A Folk Art Piece of Victorian Wonderment and Fantasy
A late 19th Century oil on canvas Landscape in a period Walnut with gold gilt liner is only the foundation for this dive into fantasy world. The small cut out figures and animals are glued on the surface of the canvas creating a Harry Darger type world. In this world the background is only a playground for the cut out figures to play in. The children play in this fantasy world, safely and freely, allowed to explore and this artist used the collage media to explore that freedom.
