L C Tiffany Blue Favrile Sherbet From 1909 Marked wtih Name and Number 4561 D

The Art Glass of Louis Comfort Tiffany was made at the early 1900's till about 1930's. The favrile glass was not an invention of Tiffany but a style of glass making going back to the Romans. The period of the 1900's, the revival period of Neoclassical design, styles and techniques, gave rise to old trades and productions and Tiffany's glass was a perfect example. His style and technique became instantly collectable.

The Letter "D" on the underside denotes the year, 1909. Signed with "L C Tiffany" and a product number of 4561. The form is a elegant Sherbet cup.
This piece comes from a private estate, the mother who passed away in 1998, she inherited this piece and other Tiffany glass items from here mother when she passed away in circa 1960's.
