WWI Propaganda Art Of English Lion Holding Fast in Wake of Battle Field
The Imagery of WWI Heraldic images of the Kingdoms was a popular motif during WWI and with the Newspapers and posters, this imagery was away to document the warring nations.
Here is a rarely seen image by the artist Cassel in which he depicts the English Empire as the stoic lion looking west. England was one of the main Allies in fighting the invading Prussian Army.
The frame and mat appear to be period to the piece and with the ink title on the bottom section of the mat reading " The Lion Still Holds", this is one of the better WWI Memorabilia / Art I have have seen in awhile.
The Frame measures approx. 19 1/2" x 21".
If you have any questions or need additional images, please feel free to contact me.
