The image is fine detailed ambrotype by photographer, "G. Brown Daguerreotype Institution and Photographic Portrait Gallery, 51, Coney Street, York". The label a light blue paper
Labeled as a Daguerreotype studio, this is a ambrotype, an early one since the photographer has not added his "new" process of ambrotypes to his label.
The woman, in black with a plane and simple case with black felt. The added black cloth fragment to this mourning photograph elevates this somber image.
Size: 6th Plate
Condition: the image is crips and very clear with light marks on the left side. The details of the image are very clean. Some damage to the brass mat on the left and top. The black cloth is clean and the label is very crips and well preserved. The case has a tape repair, the original hinge is broken. Wear to the outside of the case.
