Aesthetic Movement Frame Gilt Frame with a circa 1870's tapestry
The Frame is a huge wood and gilt frame, approx. 4 Feet and approx. 5 feet tall
You can see by the back image, that the outside profile is over 3 inches wide.
The Tapestry is hand painted, please see the blue of the queen's robe, you can see the applied paint.
Condition: The frame is in very good condition but will need to be cleaned, the estate was not cleaned or dusted in many years. The Tapestry is fine with slight fade to certain applied colors, most notably the light color reds, which appear to be Rose Madder (Rose madder is the commercial name sometimes used to designate a red paint made from the pigment madder lake, a traditional lake pigment extracted from the common madder plant Rubia tinctorum.)
