In the style of Adelphoi Zangaki and Felix Bonfils, this early life photos of the newly opened tourist site of Egypt started a large craze which lead to the early 1900's Egyptian Revival Art Movement.
From a collection of other photos, some dated 1871, this one is undated but judging by the process the photo is a circa 1870's albumen.
The Egyptian Woman poses with a small sleeping child resting on her shoulder and head. The detail in the photograph is amazing. Crisp imaging and seeing the folds and wrapped and layered fabric is breath taking and a rare insight into this time period of Egypt.
The photo is labeled under the image, "A Egyptian Woman" written in a ion based ink.
