In January 1946, DownBeat went from semi-monthly to bi-weekly every other Monday, and was Bi-Weekly from 1946-1979
The magazine is considered the magazine and "Bible" for jazz and this collection covers one of the most important part of Jazz history, the late Bop period up to the early period of Jazz Fusion.
Incredible reviews, ads and details and interviews with many of the leading figures of Jazz.
This collection comes institutional bound, bound in green with gilt binding. Each Year is bound and preserved and Sturgis Antiques is selling this as a set.
Each volume, year is displayed with the covers and as best as I can tell, is complete with no missing years.
Note August 31st 1961 is missing the cover and 1971 and 1972 a single issue was published in the months of July, August and September and also in January of 1972 a single issue was published.
Condition: The binding is tight and secure with light wear to the pages and covers. You can see, some issues have removed mailing address labels on the cover. No damage to the covers, light signs of use and some light storage marks. Please see the images for more details.
