Anthonie Waterloo Etching The Dog Drinking At the Stream 17th Etching Second State Ovid's Metamorphoses Circa 1650

Anthonie Waterloo (French, active The Netherlands, ca. 1610-1690) A Scene from Ovid's  Metamorphoses, etching.

Size: approx. 12" x 10"

Condition: repairs on the back and soiling from age on the front. Trimmed at plate mark 

Waterloo did 6 vertical etchings for Ovid's Metamorphoses, this being one of six. 

"Waterloo was born at Ryssel near Lille in north-central France. By 1630, however at the age of 21, Waterloo and his mother went to live in Amsterdam. Sixty years later, Waterloo died in Utrecht in Holland. In spite of having been born in France, he is generally catalogued to be a major member of the 17th century Dutch landscape school."
