Georges Barbier (1882–1932) was one of the great French illustrators of the early 20th century. Barbier “led a group from the Ecole des Beaux Arts who were nicknamed by Vogue "The Knights of the Bracelet"—a tribute to their fashionable and flamboyant mannerisms and style of dress.”
Part of the French Art Deco movement, his fashion plates and his art with his sleek geometry and machine age streamlining, the art had bold colors, neoclassical motifs and modernity to his figures.
The title of this piece is Aggressus Ressurgo, titled lower right with a flower remarque and is hand numbered 166/ 500. Signed in the art with date of 1918.

Paper is a laid paper with watermark on the right margin.

Size: paper is 15" x 17 1/4"
Condition: The paper is mounted on board. Some toning and foxing to the edges of the paper, image is very fine with bold colors. Remarque and number have slight toning. The margins of the paper are toned from mat. Back of board has tape and aging to the board. Please see the images for more details.
