These cold painted Owls with inset glass eyes are circa 1900.
Austria in the late 1800's to early 1900's made and exported these highly detailed and small in size bronzes.
The Owl in circa 1900 was an animal associated with Knowledge and Wisdom, so these bookends are a fitting symbol to that folk belief.
The details of the casting is superb, fine detailing in the feathers and face of the owls and the glass eyes illuminate the owls.
Size: both owls are approx 3 1/2 inches tall
Base 4 3/4 x 3 inches
Condition: Fine with even patina on both owl. The owl that has its wings open has a wear to the patina on the wing and is a gold color. The marble is in Very good condition, securely mounted. Please see the images provided for a visual description and details
