China Burma India WWII Theatre Campaign Blood Chit on Leather with Serial Number 8918
A "Blood Chit" from WWII China- Burma-India theatre campaign on leather with serial number issue 8918. A "Blood Chit" was used by the Air Force and translates to: "This foreign person has come to China to help in the war effort. Soldiers and civilians, one and all, should rescue, protect, and provide him with medical care."
The number 8918 is stamped on the left side and indicates that this is a latter issue. The Blood Chit is made of dyed leather and is machine stitched. The character lettering is stenciled printed in black and the serial number printed in blue or possible faded black ink.
The size is approx. 8" x 10" and the overall condition is very fine. The back does show some water staining, please see the photos provided.
This piece comes to me from an estate I am working on in New Orleans. The estate says to have acquired this piece about 20 or more years ago.
