Circa 1920's Brass Orb Mounted to Stand Antique Gazing Ball

Circa 1920's Brass Orb on stand. 

The brass orb is attached to three stylized spacers and a metal cast iron base. It appears that the base went into the ground. I dont want to dimmish this piece by calling it a garden globe, due to the fact that the house has early psychic books and more pieces coming but this very strange piece has me stumped. 
Date wise, circa 1920's, the ball is attached on the bottom with a thread. 
The side of the ball has a small dent and a small dent near that but overall, in very good condition.

Condition: As you can see, there is small dent to the orb but it is still intact with no other damage or structural issues. The threading to keep the globe attached is slightly loose, I have not altered or cleaned this piece in any way. Please see the images for more details.
