Early Sixth Plate Daguerreotype of Man Hand Tinted Strange Eyes Resealed
A striking hand tinted early Daguerreotype of older man with the strangest eyes I have seen. The eyes caused a haunting and strange reaction to the lighting causing his eyes to react almost making him look like a lizard. Obviously he is not, or I would be selling this as a genuine lizard man photograph!
The man's portrait is very nicely done, a great lens was used and the hand tinting to the daguerreotype is exceptional. No makers mark or notes on the sitter of photographer. The original seals are gone but replaced in the last 25 or more years.
There is no lid to the case image.
Size: Sixth Plate
Condition: veyr fine with replaced seals. Some dust under the glass, the glass will need to be cleaned and resealed. Very faint and light tarnish on the edges near the brass mat. The mat has some aging and small damage on the right edge. Please see the images for more details.
