Garage Single From Lansing Michigan Chancellors Dear John on Fenton Records
Chancellors Dear John / 5 Minus 3 on Fenton Records – 2072.
Chancellors were a short lived garage band from rom Lansing,MI. Right outside of Detroit and Ann Arbor Mi., the band had two single out in 1966 on the Fenton Label.
A band that had an amazing B-side of an instrumental with heavy organ and fast paced drums, what an incredible single! The A-side is again a heavy organ song with vocals and like the flip, a fast paced garage song, no wonder they were on Fenton Records.
Fenton was a known garage label even back in the day with a string of amazing singles
"Founded by David Kalmbach in 1964, Fenton Records recorded and promoted garage bands from across the western Michigan area. The bands paid for all of the expenses related to recording, mastering, and pressing their record and in return got to use the Fenton Record label. Kalmbach also ran Great Lakes Recording Company, which was owned by the label and located in the former Sparta movie theater. The label and studio folded in 1970 when Kalmbach went to work for another recording studio in Detroit."
