Group of 4 Black Power Soul Jazz Band Photos Unknown Band From Washington DC Circa 1976
Washington DC, the known city for great jazz and funk, every band played there from all walk, Jazz, Funk, Punk but few called it home. In Punk, the great Dischord Records can boast they are from DC. Trouble Funk, EU and more bands of the GoGo scene can call DC home. GoGo was invented in DC! Jazz, the great Oneness of Juju and the great Blackfire Records can boast they are from DC.
So when I cam across this band, unknown to me but they have to be a band that did something of note or tried. The clothes of the Soul Jazz scene was a Pan African Black Power Movement style and these guys have it down. In two of the photos they pose in front of a Porsche and the plate can been seen, the Bicentennial plates were used April 1, 1974 – March 31, 1978, this fits in the time of the Soul Jazz sound in DC.
No names on the back of the photos. The photos are all Black and White and are printed on glossy photo paper.
