Mid to Late 1800's Oil Painting of Little Girl
A very nice portrait of a little girl, circa mid to late 1800's.
This fine detail and well done oil painting shows the youthful beauty of this girl. The fine attention to the face highlights the painting and the way the artist almost blurred her from the neck down shows the Classical training the artist had.
No signatures or marks on the canvas or stretchers to indicate whether this is an American or European artist. The feeling and style does lead me to believe this is European or at least the artist was trained in Europe.
The canvas does have two areas of damage, to the left of the face. This older damage can be restored, which I can get a local conservator to give an estimate on repair and cleaning.
The frame size is approx. 14" x 16 1/2" and the canvas size is approx. 11 1/2" x 14".
