William Henry Joseph Bonaparte Bertholf Smith was born in 1893 in New York. By 1910 he was playing in New York, New Jersey and Atlantic City. After returning from WWI, his reputation and playing grew until his death in 1973.
His first release was in 1957 on song called Accent On Piano and his last would be Relaxing, released in 1977 after his death.
Smith is considered one of the four great kings of Harlem stride piano along with Fats Waller.
Condition: The book is in Very Fine Condition. The binding is tight with no issues and no writing or damage to the pages. A very light soil at the top edge pages from storage. The Dust Jacket is Fien with light edge chipping at the top and light soil from years of being stored. Back has light wrinkle on the top edge and light soil from storage.
