Ninth Plate Tintype in a Union Case of Woman
The woman posed with her jewelry, a long beaded necklace and brooch and earrings. It was not uncommon for a person to dress up the best they could but this woman's long necklace stands out. The Union Case, an uncommon case and rarely lasted into the 21st c.
Tintype started to gain popularity in 1860s and the Union Case, circa 1850-1860's became less common and the combination of Union Case and Tintype is more scarce.
No documentation of the sitter or photographer and the Union Case is labeled but only with patents, the last one being 1855. Please see the images for more details.

Condition: The case has worn hinges and are loose but still attached. There is a small crack on the hinge side, at the hinge and in the middle. Pleas see the images for more details.
