Original Movie Script The Loves of Edgar Allen Poe by Samuel Hoffenstein and Tom Reed 

Gifted to Enoch Pratt in January 21 1943, the script original title was "Edgar Allen Poe" 
Written by Samuel Hoffenstein and Tom Reed, the title page states Final Script March 9th 1942.
The movie came out in 1942 and was retitled "The Loves of Edgar Allen Poe" 

Directed by Harry Lachman and stared Linda Darnell and Shepperd Strudwick. 
The Screenplay was written by Samuel Hoffenstein and Tom Reed
Samuel Hoffenstein:
"In 1931 he moved to Los Angeles, where he lived for the rest of his life and wrote the scripts for over thirty movies. These movies included Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde (1931), The Miracle Man (1932), Phantom of the Opera (1943), The Wizard of Oz (1939), Tales of Manhattan (1942), Flesh and Fantasy (1943), Laura (1944), and Ernst Lubitsch's Cluny Brown (1946). In addition, Hoffenstein, along with Cole Porter and Kenneth Webb, helped compose the musical score for Gay Divorce (1933), the stage musical that became the film The Gay Divorcee (1934)."

Tom Reed:
Wrote screen plays from 1925 to 1954, his accomplished screenplays include Phantom of the Opera, Bride of Frankenstein (1935), Night People. Reed wrote over 50 screenplays in his lifetime.

This is the final script, stated on the first page and has been institutional bound for Enoch Pratt Library in Baltimore MD. Gifted to them in 1943, the script was withdrawn, also called Weeding in 1984. The script is an ex library.

Condition: Very fine, institutional bound in blue cloth hardcover with gilt lettering on the spine. Edges of the pages are stamped with Enoch Pratt. No writing or damage to the pages. End pages have light marks and back end page has library marks. Please see the images for more details.
