R Horner and Co. Fall Front Desk circa 1900 Signed with Label
A wonder early 1900’s fall front desk made by R. J. Horner and Co. R. Horner was a well-known fine furniture maker out of New York City. This piece is a small ornate fall front desk with drawers. The desk is finished with gold painted and applied wood trim in an almost Art Nouveau look. The handles and the keyholes are metal and are highly detailed. On the back has the original celluloid label with R. J Horner’s name and street address. The piece is made of mahogany and is in very good shape. This desk been used and shows some minimal wear. The top right corner of the desk shows an old sign of a repair, approx. 3 inches long. Some of the gold has faded on the applied molding areas. The feet/ legs show signs of wear. The Finish also has some areas of wear, mostly wear and the areas where the finish has began to lighten, but the over all condition is great. The top drawer has a writing ink stain on the drawer, but this is to be expected in a desk of this age. The left leg at the bottom has some wood lose, mostly likely from an animal or from use over the years. If you have any questions or want more photos, please feel free to email me. The piece measures approx. 39” tall x 29 1/4” wide x 19” deep. This piece is heavy so please email me to get a shipping quote. This piece is available for local pick up.
