Real Photographic Postcard Siam Thailand Buddhist Priest with Skelton Hand Circa 1910
A great Real Photographic Postcard, Circa 1910.
The back is hand labeled Siam Buddhist Priest, note person spelled Buddist
Siam is now Thailand, the name was changed and recognized as Thailand in 1949, after WWII.
The Buddhist priest has his large robe and appears to have a back deformity and the one arm/ hand holds a cloth and the hand is a skeleton hand. The Buddhist religion has a very different outlook on remains, infact many statues of monks and Buddhas are reliquaries. Only recently have X-rays shown full Skelton remains inside many statues.
Not labeled on front or back of photographer or publisher
Size: 3 1/2 x 5 1/2 inches
Condition: the postcard is fine and no damage. The back has title of image, not addressed or stamped. Please see the images for more details.
