Renaissance Revival Oak 2 Door Cabinet 19th Century Ornate Carving with Lions
19th Century Renaissance Revival Oak 2 Door Cabinet Ornate Carving with Lions
The Renaissance revival period was a little earlier in Europe, circa 1840's to 1870's and in American slightly a little later, circa 1850's to 1880's.
The revival period brought back the highlights of the renaissance which in itself was a revival of the classical concepts of Greek and Roman. The revival period of the 19th century also brought back the use of the wood and it being the focus and the beauty. One such wood was the oak, the grain that is recognizable, the sense of old world craftsmanship and this one does that. The heavy carved lions on either side of the top of the cabinet stand out but the doors, with the ornate scrolling with applied geometrics give an almost Italian Renaissance.
The cabinet is a tall 2 door cabinet with 2 drawers with applied lions on the top sides.
