Signed Betty Cooke Sterling Pin with Cut out Bird Stamped and Marked on Back Circa 1970s Mid Century Design
Betty Cooke, the last remaining Mid Century Jewelry Artist and some say the best. I will join that club after seeing the retrospective at the Walters Museum of Arts Show last year. If you have not gotten a catalogue for the show do, it is filled with amazing history of one of the best Mid Century Designs Jewelry Designers.
This pin, circa 1970’s is by Betty Cooke with her stamp and marked Sterling. A lot of these pins she designed had inset enamel but this very unique version of her animal pins is a cut out. This negative space shows the color or design the pin, Cooke’s ideas were always thinking and moving with an awareness of space and space around her designs.

Condition: Very fine with faint bench made marks from polishing on the front and back. The Back the pin bar is soldered on showing a light discoloring to the sterling from heat. The pin is almost perfect and is a rare and unique find these days. Please see the images for more details.
