The book is a biography of this early 20th century literary and photographer was brought into the spotlight with his 1926 book that took place in the Harlem Renaissance. It was during this time his photographer spotlight also shown. He took many photographs of his friends and figures of this amazing and highly inspirational period for African Americans.
He is also well known for his work with the Gertrude Stein, Van Vechten was the executive of her will upon her death.
The First Page is dedicated to Dr. And Mrs. Rosenblum and is dated April 2th 1955. The second signature is by the author. Edward Lueders. The signature is in pen under his name on title page.
A very rare find of this author and photographer.
Condition: The book is in very good condition with a tight binding. The brown cloth covered end boards are in very good condition. The Dust Jacket has some minor top edge chipping and the bottom edge has with shelf wear. The Spine’s DJ has light chipping on the top and bottom. The back has light shelf wear and very light wrinkle and damage at the top edge. Please see the images for more details.
