1948-1952 WFL Keystone Badge Red Sparkle Marching Snare SIGNED by Bill (William) Ludwig Jr.
This is coming from an estate who were personal friends with Bill (William) Ludwig JR. both their grandfather who passed away in 1947 and his brother were drummers. This drum head was signed to the brother in 1954. Possible photos of the family with Ludwig may be scanned to be included in the sale, pending locating the photos.
The snare is a marching snare drum, a deep snare, approx 12:" is in a red sparkle wrap. The badge is a WLF which corresponds to circa 1948-1952 production, a very short period of production on this drum.
Signed on the top WLF Calf Skin Head is " To My Good Friend Ariel Cross Sincerely Bill Ludwig Jr. 2/27/54" signed in ball point pen.
Also included is the original drum case, missing leather strap to latch it closed.
Size: 12" tall x 14" wide
Condition: The signature is Very Fine with light signs of fading to the ball point pen. The lower ring has some peeling to the red sparkle band, very minor and can be restored with restoration glue. Lugs have some signs of bumps and light pitting to the chrome but the chrome is still very vibrant with shine. The Red Sparkle drum is fine with no damage. No separation visible on the rims or shell. Both calf skins are intact with no holes. Please see the images for more details.
