Jack Coughlin (b. 1932) is a sculptor and illustrator in America.
His art is a combination of surrealism and Expressionism and especially his Grotesque series from circa 1970. A book was published with the whole series in Baltimore in 1970 and had 20 image plates.
This is a etching signed in pencil but not numbered. Frame inside a great Mid Century Danish Modern style wood frame with glass. The back of the frame has a taped Xerox of the listing from a Rotten gallery frame.
The subject is a man and woman, the man with elephant head and the woman with the stork head. Excellent detail in and an early striking from the plate.
Size: frame 10 1/4 x 13 1/4
plate is 4 7/16 x 3 1/4 inches
Condition: The paper has some minor foxing but does not effect the image. The foxing can be cleaned please contact me before purchase if you want conservation done on this piece. The Frame is fine with only minor signs of use. Excellent frame for this piece.
