Tonalist Louis Paul Dessar Oil Painting on Board (1867-1952)
Very nice signed oil on board by Louis Paul Dessar (1867-1952), sometime called the Millet of America, according to a 2007 Davenport Art guide. This New York Genre painter is very well documented in numerous art pricing and auction guides. This tonalist piece is a very quite forest scene with a lone cow off in the distance. The strong colors jump out in a well-balanced palette. The cow walks/ stands off in the distance on the path. This piece measures 13 3/4” x 10 1/2” and is signed lower right “Dessar” The painting is done on wood board. If you need more photographs, please feel free to email me
