Vintage George Nelson Saucer Bubble Pendant Lamp Circa 1960's Amazing Condition and Patina
Vintage George Nelson Saucer Bubble Pendant Lamp
George Nelson produced and designed the saucer bubble lamp in 1947. In 1952, the lamp was made by Howard Miller Clock Co. It is said that Charles and Ray Eames hung one in their Palisades living room and that created the need and want for people to have the floating saucer in their own home.
This one is has hung in my clients house since the 1960’s. The house was built in the late 1950’s and when my client bough the house from the original owner in the early 1970’s, the furniture and fixtures came with the house including this pendant lamp that hangs above their dining table.
The saucer lamp as you can see has a beautiful patina and is lacquered and turned orange with age and patina. Looking closely at the saucer, you might think that the material is thin Shell. I can not tell but I do know the age and design is one that important to the piece. It has not bee altered or changed since my client has moved in over 55 years ago.
The lamp is wired into the electric and has the original escutcheon ceiling cap.
Size: 24 inches wide x 8 inches tall
